A wide range of sound effects and actions are reproduced with Battle System including: damage blast, engine trouble sound, loss of speed, blast reaction, limited operation state, and finally inoperative state. The system is comprised of the GFS (Gun Fire Simulator) Unit and the Infrared LED Unit, for the respective detection and emission of infrared beams. Furthermore, infrared light is totally harmless and prevents damage to details of the tank body. This system incorporates infrared light and realistic sound, eliminating the difficulty in judging, often found with other tank-to-tank games. Tamiya is proud to release Battle System-a revolution in tank-to-tank fighting. Operation requires the use of two or more tanks equipped with Battle System. With this completed we are finished with the turret! Re-assemble turret keeping all wires clear of moving parts(this is where we start using zip-ties).Note: Battle System is only usable with 1/16 RC Tiger I equipped with Multifunction Unit. LED connector wires need to reach the front of the lower hull! So start with about 12 inches of wire we will trim excess. As with the DBU best method is mounting a 2pin connector inside the mantle for easy LED changing without opening the tank. Again put a small amount of CA on the tube to hold it into the mantle(Tube will be adjusted later when testing). Insert CF tube into gun mantle, align the tube as best as possible. Put a drop of superglue(CA) to hold the LED in place but can still be removed if needed. Cut a piece of CF tube with LED recessed 9mm. Reason being IR LED's produce a wide "V" pattern, the tube reduces this making a more focused beam. Because of IR battle rules, the LED must be recessed in some sort of tube 9mm. So I removed the stock red fire LED next to the main gun where the coax gun should be. Since i kept my airsoft function I am unable to install the IR LED in the gun tube. Next is mounting your IR LED! This is how you hit the enemy vehicle.
